Vario Fans for Mounting in Windows and Walls
Use in bathrooms, conservatories, walls and many more
The Vario range by Italian fan manufacturer Vortice is perfect for providing ventilation in small, medium-sized and large rooms. Vario bathroom fans extract humid air and let in fresh air. The wall-mounted and window-mounted fans can be applied in domestic, commercial and industrial areas. Bathroom fans with IPX4 rating are protected against splashing water, making them a suitable match for rooms with excessive humidity levels such as laundry rooms. The fans are controlled in a different manner depending on the model. There are manual switches with a pull cord or fully automated options with speed controllers. The optional controller units are available in our shop. All “Automatic” models are reversible meaning they can switch between air supply and air extraction.
Window and wall fans – Easy to install
Vario window-mounted bathroom fans are easy to install without much hassle. The units can be mounted in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal position without taking up a lot of space. Single-glazed or insulated glass windows only require a round cut-out in the glass. We offer special mounting kits for installation in counterwindows.
Vario wall-mounted fans by Vortice offer the same benefits as the window range. All of the wall-mounted units are controlled automatically. Each model is reversible and can be switched from air supply to air extraction. The inner closure valve can be opened to allow for a natural flow of air, otherwise it closes tightly. This prevents any cold incoming draught when the fan is turned off.

Why Vario?
Italian Design and High-quality Manufacturing
The white housing made from UV-resistant synthetic material is a subtle addition to the room and can be cleaned without much hassle. The interior and exterior parts are shatterproof, self-extinguishing and will not turn into a yellowish colour over time. After their service life the plastic parts can be recycled. Vario models are available in different sizes and can be combined with a variety of accessories.
Increased performance or quiet operation
There are two versions available. The S series is equipped with a ball-bearing motor and offers a stronger airflow rate together with outstanding energy efficiency. The Q series is designed to operate quietly with about 35.6 dB(A) on high speed even during continuous operation. The fan wheels were developed in cooperation with the Institute for Aerodynamics in Milan. By using the 5-speed controller CR5N you can decrease the operational noise (along with the airflow) even further.
Electric safety
All Vario fans are rated with an IPX4 protection code, meaning they are protected from splashing water. They can be used in continuous operation with temperatures of up to 50°C and withstand a maximum relative humidity of 95%. The motor is protected from overheating by a thermal overload protection.
Sensors for the Vario range
Controllers
- Combined with a detector Vario fans operate fully automated. Our range includes sensors detecting temperature, humidity, cigarette smoke and motion. The humidity sensor has a fixed switching point of about 65% relative humidity. The temperature and cigarette smoke sensors have an adjustable switching point.
Odour, stagnant air and moisture are transported out of the bathroom and fresh supply air can flow in.
Controllers:continuously adjustable - 5 speed levels
We offer two kinds of controllers for the Vario fans: a five speed CR5N unit and a infinitely adjustable CREN unit.

By using special mounting material you can mount Vario fans into walls, the ceiling and windows. Ideally the fan is mounted about 2.30 metres above the ground where warm and humid air accumulates underneath the ceiling. That means this is the best position for a fan to suck in the air and transport most of it out. There should always be as much supply air as there is air extracted. If there is no other possibility, a reversible model with both supply and extract mode will suffice.
Vario wall and bathroom extractor fans for conservatory
Conservatories are popular in homes and restaurants. However, room temperature quickly rises due to large glass facades, if exposed to sunshine for a longer time rooms can reach up to 50 °C. Natural sunlight hits surfaces, walls and the floor inside the room where it is transformed into thermal radiation. It cannot escape anymore. The indoor temperature rises and residents or pets might start to feel uncomfortable. Plants and furniture are also affected by high temperatures.
The Vortice Vario ventilation systems can also take in cool air from the exterior and lead it into the conservatory. The supply air fan is mounted near the floor. The extractor fan is set up on the opposite side of the room near the roof because hot air always rises upwards to the ceiling. That means hot indoor air is extracted more efficiently.
The required ventilation system performance equals the room volume multiplied by the air change rate. In a conservatory on the shady side of the building Vortice recommends an air exchange rate of about 8 – 12 per hour, if the space is exposed to direct sunlight without any shade the air change rate can rise up to 50 per hour. In combination with a humidity sensor the fans can also be used to reduce humidity and condensation as you might find in a greenhouse. In that case an air change rate of 6 – 10 is enough. If the conservatory is wider than eight metres, two supply and extraction fans are recommended.
Glass is not a good absorber when it comes to dampening sound waves. In conservatories or other rooms with a large glass front the ventilation unit should be particularly quiet. The Vario-Q models are a good choice. Depending the model you select these fans generate a sound pressure of 35.6 dB(A) and an airflow of 480 m³/h. The natural mode opens the shutters for a natural breeze without motor noise.
In the winter you can use the fans to warm up adjacent rooms. Despite cold temperature on the outside a conservatory on the sunny side of the building heats up faster than the rest of the house. This warm air can be transported to other rooms.
